About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Using some knit fingerless gloves I have lying around because I can't be bothered.
Coat
Shorts are from H&M. They were originally a khaki brown sort of color but I dyed them using Rit dye in denim blue.
Top is just a cami from Wet Seal. I think I'll go with a t-shirt next time.
I used some old Etnies skate shoes I had lying around. I wanted to use chucks but mine sort of died. I have a new pair that I'll wear if I ever get back to this costume.
Wig is Arda's Jaguar.
Pendant is made from sculpey and coated with acrylic paint and gloss. The earrings are from a store called Six and were a totally lucky find.
Sunglasses are from Five Below. They're colored with acrylic paint.
- Personal Thoughts:
- So in the span of about two or three weeks, I watched all of X-Men: The Animated Series, all of X-Men: Evolution, and the only season of Wolverine and the X-Men. After all that, I started getting the X-Men comics, starting with Gambit (because he is and always has been my favorite X-Men), then Astonishing X-Men, and then lastly X-Men. The new X-Men comic with the all female team is awesome btw. The all chick thing isn't a gimmick and it's actually really well written so far.
Anyway, while I'm not yet in shape to cosplay Rogue in all her skin tight Southern sassiness, I figured Jubilee would be fun. Also, I wouldn't die in the heat that is Baltimore in the Summer.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- This wig is extremely thick with crimped roots. I toned the roots down by wetting it, combing it flat, and blasting it with a blowdryer on low with the hot setting. The bangs pretty much go forward so I parted it with the same method. I thinned it out, focusing mainly in the bangs to look more natural, and layered it some more with thinning shears and I'm pretty sure you can make another wig with all the hair I swept off the floor.
- Wig Review
- It's really nice but the crimped roots are sort of bugging me. I toned them down slightly with a blow dryer. The wig is big enough to accommodate my 23" head and EXTREMELY thick, boob-length hair.
