I might be able to go to that one. I'm wanting to go in for Volunteer Staff, but I can't remember if they allow staff to cosplay. I know for a fact they do at A-Kon.

Anime Matsuri was horrible, sorry that con was way over price and treated their VA guest like shit, one jugde in the cosplay "he" was choosing only hot ckicks( one jugde told me that me was very differcult to deal with and didn't know a dam thing about cosplay) and none of the winners of the cosplay got payed except the grand price winners whick they had to go to planet zero and threaten to sue to get their winnings.... not worth the headache, ( Anime Matsuri will be on Easter weekend and in the Woodlands, they broke their contract with the BRG.) there is a rant about it that my cosplay group did on youtube so if you want more details check there;)

Oh.. that sucks! =/ Well.. I was about to start on my costumes for it... are there any other cons in Houston coming up? I just went to Oni-con and it was SO fun... but if Anime Matsuri is in the Woodlands AND on Easter break... I don't think I'll go....

im going back to anime matsuri. im willing to give it another chance. and from what the staff for anime matsuri told me, they basiclly fixed all the problems.

i had heard that alot of the panels for cancel. i found out that it was cancel because there wasnt enought volunteers.

you guys should know that if there isnt enough volunteers then alot of the stuff for the con will be cancel.

there is another convention called EDO-CON and yami-con. I'm one of the people in charge of EDO-CON.

Sweety, that only explans panels, it doesn't expanel the jugdes in cosplay, or the outrages prices, or even the lack of knowlegde by the head..

EDO-con where is that one at? It's not listed on the con page? link please?

I heard that Yami-Con is a fake...anyone know where it can be verified? Because someone was saying that the George R. Brown doesn't have it listed, and I'm not sure where else to check.

ive never been to anime matsuri but im going, i'm going to probaly do a dance skit if skits like that are allowed over there. dunno what character from an anime or game im going to be though so its quite a toughie. It seems like it will be a fun convention to go to though

what do you mean the person was choosing only the hot chicks.....were their costumes poor or you didnt seem them as that specific character or what was your reason for saying that? To me its very strange they would get someone who doesent understand cosplay to be a judge, maybe it was a conspiracy or something, other than that i really dont care how a person looks , whats hot to one person may not be hot to another person so thats probaly the reason the judge decided to pick the people he liked rather than the person with the best costume. i dunno im going i will be my first convention in texas though, im just hoping that it would the convention isnt as terrible as describe it to be. >_<"

honestly, i've never been to an anime convention or done cosplay even though i adore anime and manga. however... anime matsuri has it posted that miyavi will be their musical guest this year and i absolute adore the man so i decided to go to my first anime convention . 2 of my friends are going to make the 8 hour drive with me to attend it and one of them really wants to do cosplay but... neither of us know anything about it. first: do you think anime matsuri this year will be worth the effort of attending? and second: does anyone have any suggestions on where to start with cosplay? i'm fairly ok with a sewing machine but... rather short of ideas.

during the first year of Anime Matsuri, it was really bad. Alot of Volunteers never showed up so alot of things were cancel due to that. But the band was awesome =D Alot of things were backed up because they were behind on getting things started at the time they should. They had it at the Geroge R. Brown convention center, which was a horrible location for them.

During the 2nd year, alot of things were fix. ALOT OF THINGS!! Registration ran more smoothly. Volunteers showed up. (ya!) and when something was going on, i think they were volunteers, volunteers would walk around teling everyone what's about to start.

Now, Anime Matsuri will be in its 3rd year. I love what Anime Matsuri does. From what i see, they do what other anime conventions do, plus some. =) Like the J-fashion show, Import Reactor, etc.

Yea, I do think they cost a bit much more than some others, but i say its worth it. Plus, your experience at a con, its doesnt just envole around the con. It depends on who you go with, that makes it fun. ^_^

This year, im going to Anime Matsuri once again. I'm cosplay Ciel from Kuroshitsuji in his ball gown outfit.

What is everyone cosplaying as? Anyone wanna meet up?

The main web page won't be launching for another couple of days. In the meantime, the forums are open! ;D

i wanna go to matsuri of 2010 but im not sure if i might go and since im new to cosplaying i wanna plan with my friends and what cosplays and if i can afford it and all that so im not sure if i might but if i do that would be AWSOME ^^

Matsuri marks one full year of cosplay for me!!! My friend and I are celebrating that by doing all American cosplays!

Yes, Timmy Turner is from Fairly Odd Parents. Eddward (Double D) is from Ed Edd n' Eddy and Dib is from Invader Zim.

Gah! I might go to anime matsuri!! but i dont know yet. I'm for sure going to Kamikazecon3, I need to get a job after spring break (thats after kamikazecon also) so i can pay my way to Matsuri...i recently got laid off from my job. I'm thinking about Hobby Lobby. If i do get a job after spring break i have to reserve the date of the con so i can get off work.

I really want to get two uses out of my costume this year. I'm going to kamikazecon and if i can Matsuri as a Katamari Cousin! Cousin Miso is who i'm going as!

Who here went to Matsuri & regretted the hotel?

I regret everything. Never returning to Houston ever again.
