Construction Details:

I made Chizuru's very specific kimono prints by lasercutting stencils and then using floral spray on base fabrics. I used a store-bought pattern (Simplicity 4080) this time for the kimono and was happy to see that I wasn't far off at all from making a "real" kimono than I was with Yuzuruha. The obi I just faked by making a pre-tied bow and the easy base band instead of the full loooooooong obi. The hair accessories were sculpted out of epoxy sculpt and spray-painted. The obi medallions I drew up in AutoCAD then embroidered.

Personal Thoughts:

I made this costume in 3 days with little to no sleep because I juggle grad school along with cosplay. Fortunately it was done enough in time for MegaCon 2013. I plan on adding more applique and gold detailing to make it more accurate to the artbook version, but for now it counts as the "anime version."

Styling Notes

Lots of teasing, hair spray, and I made the bow out of heavy cardstock, hot glue, and three packs of black loose braiding hair.

Wig Review

The new Le Tigre's are thin in the back but it didn't matter for this costume since I was covering most of the back with a big geisha bow.
