Cosplay Photography Tips and etiquette

Hi everyone
Im so stoked to on attending my first anime con, Especially taking lots awesome photos of cosplayers. However, I'm new in the field of photography/ videography. So I've wondering what are the specific basic tips, tutorials and techniques? I own a Nikon D7000 with a 18-55mm and 35mm kit lenses. Since the con that I'm attending is 4 months away I'll be researching and practice for the time being..
