A heart attack occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is suddenly blocked, often due to fatty deposits narrowing the arteries. This blockage causes damage to the heart muscle because it doesn’t get enough oxygen. The most common cause is coronary artery disease, where plaques rupture and form clots that stop blood circulation.

Common symptoms include chest pain or pressure, which may spread to the arms, neck, or jaw. People might also experience shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, dizziness, or fatigue. Women sometimes show less typical signs like sudden tiredness or nausea. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s crucial to get emergency medical help right away.
