Please don't laugh!

Post by mamarox » Wed Jan 21, 2009 8:33 pm

Hi...I'm a middle-aged mom who loves manga, anime, comics/scifi/fantasy/etc.

I'm taking my daughter to ComicCon this weekend, and I desperately need an idea for my own costume (she's going as Count D from Pet Shop of Horrors).

I haven't gone to a con in *forever* and I can't think of a character who (1) is old enough so I won't look ridiculous (no goth Lollys for me) and (2) I can improvise a decent cosplay with little $$ or time.

I have a ton of great clothes/accessories I can use, and I'm pretty creative, so I can probably pull something decent together by Saturday, but I need help with some char ideas.

Thanks!

More power to you! =D

Spiderman's Aunt May:
She's very straight to the point and takes no butts from anyone.

Full Metal Alchemist's Edward and Alphonse Elric's mother:

(Trisha Elric) who died from an illness, but was later seen as the anime/manga's Sloth. Sloth and Trisha look so alike.

What sci-fi and fantasy shows you watch?

You might want to check up more on Full Metal Alchemists. Theres several that suit your personality and looks.

One of my favorite 'mom figures' in Anime was Osono[sp?] fro Kiki's Delivery Service.

I am sorry but that's the only clear image I could find. A simple blue sundress with a bakery apron over it.....but is also pregnant in the film >__>' -ahem-

If you really want to go 'all out' you could try Yubaba from Spirited Away or 'old'/'silver hair' Sophie from Howls Moving Castle.
Yubaba:http://wieczna001.wrzuta.pl/obraz/9AKnw ... rited_away The dress it's self is fairly simple looking.

Sophie 'silver hair': http://sophie-lou.tripod.com/howls_movi ... lcifer.JPG
While Sophie isn't necessarily middle aged, she is certainly not the typical 'school girl anime' style, and could be done very well with the simple dress.
