Akatsuki Cloak

Post by Lyzi_Kira » Fri Sep 14, 2007 3:09 am

okay...
I plan on cosplaying as Itachi to Anime North in 2008 I know it's a ways away but I wanna be him for Hallowe'en too possibly. I made a list of everything that Itachi wears:
slashed head band :have it
hat with white streamer things and a small bell (optional) :have it
blue pants :have it
blue shirt with fishnet :have it (fishnet help???)
blue sandals :don't have
white socks :have it
necklace :on the way from ebay
akatsuki ring :looking on ebay
and the...

CLOAK!!!!! :in the process of making.

What I need help on is how do I make the shirt with fishnet?? do I just buy the fishnet at the fabric store... if you can even buy fishnet there... and just soe it on?? and the shoes... I have an idea that all I have to do is get blue bottomed shoes, cut the top part off. and soe the sortof cover they have on them, but leave the toes showing...

The main thing is.. the cloak.
I have alllll the fabrics I need, I just need a patern of how to cut and soe it. Cause I seriously am soeing retarded. >.<
So if you have any idea where to get a pattern for the cloak It'd be much appreciated, and also do you know if I soe on clouds made of felt will it look okay, or should I use something else??

Please help!!!! :?
Thanks,
Lyzi.

If you can do basic sewing, here's a good way to make ninja sandals...
http://liz.spain.googlepages.com/narutosandaltutorial

And the cloak... it's quite a pain, so good luck. :)
I think felt would look fine and would probably be easier to cut and work with than other fabric.

WEll, Me and my friend have recently started working on our akatsuki cloaks. Pretty much, we went to a local arts storre and looked at all the books. In about 1/2 hr, we stumbled upon jackets with collars and, down to about the thigh. Were making the sleves a longer and making the cloak longer, so if you dont mind devainting a little, go look at winter jackets..

As for the clouds.. We only have the fabric cut for the main cloak.. Sorry

Thanks vvinged I checked out the "how to" books at the store and I found a picture very much like the Akatsuki cloak. All I'll have to do is make the sleeves longer and the coat longer as well.

You're welcome... ^^ And to make the collar stand up, I can't remember what it's called, but they sell a stiff white material to put on the inside of the fabric... Interfacing? Maybe that's it, just ask the people at the fabric store and they'll know what you mean. If you can't get that stuff, just throw in some cardboard. (If it works for a samurai's hakama, it'll work for Itachi) :D

Hey, I'm making a cloak for Itachi too! Actually, I'm the friend vvinged was talking about. We are using interfacing to make our collars stand up right, but since we haven't started that part yet, I can't tell you how well it works XD. Good luck on your costume!
