I'm going as Reno from FF7 Advent Children, and I need some suggestions about how to go about constructing his bat/baton/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. If anyone has any links to tutorials where I can make it, I would also appreciate those. ^_^

I can get other pics if those ones aren't enough.

Maybe get a pointer that some teachers use, or paint a little light saber silver. -Sweatdrop-

Get a toy light Saber and paint it Silver..... That was easy and cheap.

Easy and cheap but it looks like crap.

PVC pipeing works, but that consists of contruction if you have the time and supplies. But if you want to save alot, The light sabers can extend just like in the movie.

O_o

They were asking for help on Reno's baton, not a lightsaber.

I actually thought of the same thing, at first - using the handle and two end bits of a lightsaber and 'editing' it, cutting pieces off and whatnot, painting it, and adding the black grips. Taking something and changing it to be something similar in appearance doesn't mean it has to look like crap.

PVC might work... if you had access to a lathe, though, you could make it out of a thick dowel.

It's rare to find Dowel rods bigger than a broom handle, and even so, that'll be one frick'n heavy batting stick! Studdy though!

Forgive me for being a total n00b, but what IS PVC pipe? And where, if I decide I want to use it, can I get some?

It's the white pipes used for plumbing. Look under the sink, there should be some there. Head to Home Depot (or Scotty's, or Lowe's, or whatever). They should have plenty.

I'd say Lowe's, Home Depot is usually the more expensive of the two (In my own rather humble opinion, of course ~_^)

Wouldn't you need, like, some kind of special tool to work with PVC pipe? Or the help of someone in the construction business? How can someone like me make my baton out of it?

At the very simplest, hacksaw + glue + paint.
