Mimiru cosplay help? ^-^;

I really want to make a Mimiru costume. I don't have a certain to be finished by so time is not a problem. I was wondering if anyone had some good ideas on materials that would look good on her armor? I was thinking of using a burgandy bra as a base and add plastic to it. I'm not sure though. I also need ideas on making making her sword. @_@ I have never made weapons before. ^-^; So I'm up to just about any suggestions really. Thanks in advance! ~<3
