Hey, our group is doing a Magna Carta thing for ACen and my friend is doing Calintz. Well, he was wondering what he should do about the choker belts.

wow, those are going to be tough.

Well leather is a bitch to sew, so i'd recomen getting the most leather looking stuff you can find. The rivets or "eyelits" as they will be called at the fabric store aren't too expensive and fairly easy to apply. I know they have starter sets at Jo-Ann fabrics. I'm sure you can buy belt buckles, or go to second handstores and salvage them from existing belts. for the grey part i'd sew the fake leather to it, the grey looks like it should be thicker so i'd use a foamy materal. Or then quilt batting and cover that as nicely as possible with grey material then attach the leather parts (with eyelits already in so that they won't be exposed and itch at your neck).

This might be utterly un-helpful. But if i were making that costume, i'd do that.

I'd use plether, myself. it's fairly easy to sew and looks accurate to what you're making. And I'd agree about the eyelets, just make sure you get the tool to apply them also. I forgot and had to drive back to JoAnns to get mine... O_o
The tool generally runs about 10-16$, the eyelets about 2-5$ for a 100 pack, and you can find quality plether here http://www.stretchworld.com/

well most "starter packs" come with a tool, and you just need a hammer and a flat surface. though the bigger tools make things easier.

O_o I never needed a hammer.... Maybe I have a different kind?
