Armband help.

Post by euphemiasama » Tue Feb 23, 2010 1:26 pm

I'm making a Marik cosplay and I've looked into various ways to make his armbands/neckband, but none seem to work. I was originally thinking using metal, but I don't want to wear metal around my neck. I was thinking paper mache covered with paperclay, but that would make them too thick I think. What do you think would be the best way to construct them?

As for attaching them, I intended to hide the "seam" on the underside/backside of my arms so that it wouldn't be visible in pictures. Is there anyway I could make it to where they wouldn't overlap to close, but be able to say have a hook inside the band? Like one end having an extension that slides into the other end and being held securely.

~Thanks in advance!

I would suggest using this method:

You can even sew on it, so for the neck band rather than have it be 3 separate pieces, you could just stitch a "seam" line into it with black thread. Same for the arm bands. You can have it close in pretty much any way you can think of: snaps, hooks, lace-up. Just try to think how you want it to be and try it out. Craft foam is so cheap you can ruin it and still afford another sheet. :)
