New here! Tip an Ideas please? :3

Hey! I'm new here. XD I'd appreicate some tips from all you cosplay-intelligent peeps...

First off I'd just like to say that I'm kinda new at cosplay. ^^; I've only done 2 so far, Inuyasha when I was about 12 lol and Chii this past year from Halloween. They really wern't that good, but consitering I made them in about 2 days they were pretty darn good. XD And the fact that I didnt have time to buy fabric online or from a big place, I had to go to Walmart. :\

And, I'd like some ideas on what everyone here would think would be a good cosplay for me. I'm 14, 5' 1'' and I'm not fat really. (I do call mysef fat but eh, most girls do. ._.) I weigh 115lbs. I'm a freshman in highschool lol. I don't play any sports really, but I ware a 1/2 size pants in Summer Wars and Fitch. Dunno if that helps any. o.o I have glasses, but I dont have to ware them really because I just have stigmitism (sp? Sorry it's almost 1 am x___x;; ) and I can deal without them. But they're kinda thick frames. I don't have contacts yet but I might get some soon... like blue/greenish ones. I have naturally dark brown eyes and hair. I can buy a wig though... which I probably will end up doing anyways lol. Nothing like super uber showing, like Faye is probably as far as I'd go. XD I am buying a Gypsy (Ragnarok Online) costume from one of my friends though. ^^ I be too lazy to makeith it myself Lol... Eh, but yeah... I dunno I guess I could show a pic of myself if you guys would think it'd make it easier to find something... lol

yeah... these are two cosplays I had in mind, not sure if they sound good for me though XD.

Rei from Evangelion - the plug-in suit.

I'd end up buying a wig and get some contacts. :P lol...
What kind of fabric would I use for this though? Eeek, it looks streachy and kinda shiny, but I dunno. x_x

Or....

Angelic Layer - Hikaru (<3)
Piccie--->http://www.sixthseal.com/images/angel.gif and... http://www.angeliclayerdvd.com/angels/angels.php
This is just UBER KAWAII in my eyes, It's so cuuuute. XD lol I'd be awsome if I could actually pull it off. ^_^ I'd need a lot of help from a lot of people though O____O I really like it though... Ugh. X3 lol

Sorry this is so long. ^^; Thanks though!!! I'll love you forever if you help me... <3 Hehe

Well for rei you could make a body suit and then applique on all the black parts, for the back pack you could make one it doesn't look like a super hard pattern to do. I mean it is all trial and error, trust me I spent a lot of money when I first started, I made lots of mistakes and I still make mistakes every now and then. Like one time I sewed a sleeve on wrong 4 times yeah I was pretty frustrated by the 4th time and it was like 2 nights before con. But try to make your own pattern or look thru a pattern book and try to find the closest pattern and then modify it to fit you needs. For hkaru, body suit would be good as well and for the armor you can use sclupta mold or if you can't find that then paper clay, then paint and finish with like shelac or something. I hope this has helped you.

Hmm, you chose some challenging costumes to really get into cosplaying. Really your costume work depends on how well you already know how to sew. Certain techniques and how things should look and be sewn.

If you can answer me this, young grasshopper :wink: , I will divulge my knowledge. Otherwise, I say now, choose an easier costume for beginning. Of course, unless you are up to the challenge, of late night early morning sewing and the blood sweat and tears. Be my guest :3
