Cosplay! Need Help!
Cosplay! Need Help!
Hi there,
Last year, I decided to cosplay as Sasuke Uchiha at J-popcon (www.j-popcon.dk). Well, so I went on eBay and bought the clothes and some extra stuff. Yeah, I'm still unexperienced with construction and this post might've been posted the wrong forum but anyway, the clothes and everything suits me fine, but there's only one part missing. The hair. I have long, blonde hair. (yeah I'm a boy so what) So what am I gonna do? Should a get some really strong wax and cut my hair a bit? or what should I do? Oh yeah, almost forgot, here's a picture of me (sorry about the quality):

Even if you had ass-length hair, you wouldn't have to cut it to wear a wig. That's what a wig cap is for.
*gasp* Your hair is gorgeous. Have you seen Constantine? You would make a really awesome Gabriel (the white outfit from the end). Just a thought. ^^;

Your hair is perfect for Gilgamesh cosplay...seriously. That is some damn nice hair.
Anyway, you don't need to cut your hair for it to fit under a wig.

That's my girlfriend and her hair is obviously quite long. She just has to work a bit harder to get hers all up in the wig cap. Your hair is actually a good length because you don't have to work braids in it. My hair was your length for quite a while and all I did was stuff my hair in it. Quite easy.
Anyway, yes, get the wig cap and buy a black wig that you can style into Sasuke. Much better idea than ruining that beautiful hair by cutting it.

Any black wig that is shoulder length and not with bangs can be used for Sasuke.

Do you have a hair straightener or anyone you know that owns one? A hair straightener will take out all the curls for the day or until it gets wet and will provide the Sasuke look a lot better.

But ya, what Filachar was talking about was a flat iron.

Which is just one method of hair straightening. But judging by how curly your hair is in that first pic (more wavy instead of really tight curls), I'd say another method could work for you, minus the hair frying and scalp/face burning.
You can use a hair straightening product. A kind of spray or somthing or the other. But beware, if you live in humid conditions then your hair might just bouce back up into it's natural curly state.
(though you might not have tried everything and might just want to start with just hair straightening product)Problem: How can I straighten and smooth my naturally curly (frizzy) hair? I have tried everything
taken from:
Solution: Most of the anti-frizz styling products out there work very well but not without the aid of good styling tools (meaning high heat) and the right brushes (soft but firm bristles). Yet even after all of that, if there is any humidity in the air, none of this will work to keep hair smooth.
I suspect you haven't found the right combination of products and styling tools yet. It is difficult to suggest exactly which ones would work best for you, as the smallest nuances between products often make or break how any given person feels about them, but wouldn't affect my review. For example, you may like a lotion smoothing product while someone else may like a gel, and another a styling spray, or a combination of all three depending on the thickness of your hair. As a general rule, and this is only a general rule, be sure to use a silicone serum (Citre Shine and John Frieda make good ones, but there are dozens more), and then a styling lotion or styling spray; for these types of products, L'Oreal's Studio Line and Physique (both at the drugstore) have a great range of options to consider.

Just a couple suggestions, I've heard from my curly haired freinds that they usually work.
Aw! Don't hate the curls, I love curly hair! Straigthening irons work wonders, for me it works best when I spray a little water on my hair before I iron the section, then I put frizz-ease on it.
You can get irons and hair serums at places like Target, drug stores even have an amazing number of hair products.
My hair is a really annoying texture, it doesnt curl, but it still gets frizzy, I tend to keep it braided.
I also have hair to my hip, and it fits easily and comfortably under a wig, it is all about the wig cap!
I still need to make a tutorial for my site, but there is a much simpler and more comforatble way to put extra long hair under a wig cap than braiding! It took awhile for me to figure it out, but now wigs almost feel loose....
