The problem though, is that they either have to have red soles or you have to paint the soles red. Also, depending on which reference pics/episodes you watch, Ed has red lining around the top of the boots. I just used bias tape and hand sewed it on for mine. ^^ Good luck!

If I were you I'd just find some really thick fusible interfacing and use that. You can find interfacing at any fabric store (just ask the people where it is). You could also use fiberglass resin and sheets over a paper mache base. Just make sure you're in a well-ventilated area.

I'd use plether, myself. it's fairly easy to sew and looks accurate to what you're making. And I'd agree about the eyelets, just make sure you get the tool to apply them also. I forgot and had to drive back to JoAnns to get mine... O_o The tool generally runs about 10-16$, the eyelets about 2-5$ for...
