About this Costume
Construction Details:
The Robe
pattern was made from my graduation gown (I had to find another purpose for this gown). Once I had the pattern I transferred that to the fabric of choice. Nothing out of the ordinary. OO and the loops for belts at the end of the arms were made from scrap pieces of fabric--I just needed the belts to stay in place nothing fancy here.
The belts
they were made from craftfoam and wrapped with pleather. This is a technique I find very useful and worth noting because it will save you a TON of money.
The neckbrace was made from high quality upholstery fabric to give it more structure. I also reinforced the neckbrace with an endoskeleton made from copper wire (any wire would work) to prevent the weight of the fabric to fall on itself.
The Sword was made from pine wood cut with a jigsaw, beveled with an angel grinder, and sanded down with a random orbital sander. Imperfection in the wood was reduced with plastiwood (I recommend this awesome wood filler).
Painted with Rustoleum Paint you can get at Home Depot.
Personal Thoughts:
First attempt to sew my own costume. I think it turned out pretty good. There is definitely some areas I could improve on such as the seams under the armpit HAHA.
