About this Costume
Construction Details:
Bodysuit:
The base bodysuit is made of a high quality Lycra. It’s doubled up for modesty. The bodysuit is 3 sections: Upper front and back, middle front and back and lower front and back. There is elastic in the leg holes to prevent the underwear from riding up. There is about 8 snaps around the seam line from middle to lower sections. This is where the skirt attaches. The sleeves are circles folded in half. The channels are sewn in then stuffed with craft batting. Then the sleeves are sewn on.

Skirt and Collar:
The hiproll is attached to the skirt. The corresponding snaps from the bodysuit are sewn o the seam line within the skirt and hip roll.
The skirt is made up of 2 perfect circles. They are narrow hemmed along the bottom and sewn together and attached to the hiproll. I gave it a very good pressing to get rid of wrinkles and to pres the hem downward.
The collar is a self drafted pattern by me. A small snap placement is sewn carefully to the lower front so it attaches easily to the bodysuit. One ribbon stripe is carefully sewn on.

Bows:
The bows are made of 2 rectangle pieces each. The front bow is bow front and bow tail, and the same goes for the back bow only it is slightly larger. The bows have heavy weight interfacing in them to keep the structure.
The bows are pleated in the center to create the shape.
The brooch is also removable so it can be swapped out for the heart or sphere.

Choker and Glove Toppers:
The choker is just a strip of the same fabric as the skirt and is just folded over, sewn and Velcro sewn to the back for a closure.
The glove toppers are cut on the bias. They are rectangles, folded in half then sewn. Turned inside out and the three channels are sewn in. this can be very tricky because it’s on the bias and it likes to warp a lot. The channels are stuffed with craft batting.

Gloves and Tiara:
The gloves were purchased from a bridal shop in downtown Toronto.
The tiara is from Catzia’s collectibles. The gem stone is removable so I can use this tiara for any scout. The quality of the tiaras is amazing! They are incredible quality.
Shoes:
I found a pair of red patent pumps at Payless shoes. I didn’t have to modify them at all. They were perfect as is.

Wig:
It's the same wig I use for all my Sailor Mars (and Mistress 9!) cosplays. It's a Zephyr wig in black/purple. I cut and styled the bangs.

Personal Thoughts:
This is the second Sailor Mars costume I have made. This one is made as a swappable fuku so I use the bodysuit for all scouts (minus Pluto and Saturn.) The new versions of my scouts are made from a satin called Peau de Soie, it has less shine and is a heavy weight satin.
