About this Costume
Construction Details:
The creation of the top-hat involved taking measurements of my head and then forming 2 wire rings (one for the inside and out side of the brim). Next I made a form out of poster board. I then moved on to make a sort of cover for the form out of the same material that I intended to make the suit out of. For the inside of the hat, I used the same lining material as I did for the cape. For the final touches on the hat, the inner and outer bands are made from a pleather, to give it that shiny look that is implied in the anime.

The came is a full circle cape patter, cut to be about mid calf length. The material is lining for the inside and the contrast, to make it flow more easily in the wind, or while walking. instead of making it actually button on, I tacked it down where the buttons in front are, and I actually stitched it around the collar. That way, there would be less pulling on the front of the suit jacket.

I did manage to find some patterns that had bow-tie patterns, and I was able to make it into a clip on (its a bit more tacky, but this way its a lot easier to put on and take off).

There was a pattern for the vest that I actually happened to have laying around. The same material I used in the vest was what I used to make the bow-tie.

For the suit jacket, I made it a size smaller than what I should wear, and then cut it short, but with a sort of wave pattern to it, shorter on the sides, longer in the back and front. The front actually comes to a point. I chose the smaller size due to the shortened length and the fact that the jacket isn't supposed to close. Adding buttons on the correct locations was the final step.

The pants, for those I used a pattern from the same packet as i did for the suit jacket, as well as the same fabric. For the pockets and inner fly that I used the lining of the cape and hat and jacket. I know it isn't seen all that well, but I wanted a sense of unity.

The mask, is just a cut piece of white craft foam held on with a bra strap.

The rose was courtesy of ammie's prop box. the pendent was lent to me from a friend of ammies, I found the gloves at a tuxedo shop, I happened to have the dress shoes and tuxedo shirt.
Personal Thoughts:
I am thinking about remaking the mask and top-hat
