Construction Details:

I made this on my mom's living room floor in three days. No joke.
I used a commercial military repro pattern for the coat, which was maybe the worst idea I have ever brained. I had a much easier, more appropriate pattern available BUT NOOOO. Had to do it the stay-up-all-night-cursing way. In any case, it's made of cotton and is fully lined. Would I use a poly blend if I made something like this again? You know it. 100% cotton was light and breathable, but so very wrinkly, even with an entire can of starch on it and more hours of pressing than should really have been necessary. It would go something like, "Ah, all finished with those pesky wrinkles," and then I'd breathe on it wrong and, "FFFFFFUUUUUU-"
The ring and rose were way, way too much fun to make. The duelist ring is made of clearcoated polymer clay. The rose is made of cut up coffee filters that have been soaked in diluted ink. I think the whole rose is made of about 50 or so paper petals, and the whole thing is attached to a polymer clay "stem" that I covered in gold leaf.
