Construction Details:

The first version of this costume was originally out of my closet and with my own hair, and only the overskirt made by me. Obviously, this was changed with the newest version, but for now, I still use the old jumper (until I make a new one).

I am happy with how comfortable this costume is! Even the wig came out less painful than I expected, but maybe some of that was helped with the fact that Zephyr wigs come with a couple of combs stitched inside.

The dress was a combination of two different patterns. For the top, a sort of pseudo-Victorian/colonial costume was used, and for the bottom, a medieval skirt. The result is just enough train to emulate Robin's dress, but not so much as to be ungainly and risk tripping. The outer fabric is a charcoal linen and the inside is black cotton.

The necklace is one I originally found on eBay. However, being the picky person that I am, I ended up repainting the metal parts gold to match more consistently with the art book references I was using. It also made the neckace stand out more from the costume itself. It was also sprayed with a gloss paint to smooth out the surface (the original was a bit of a rough cast).

Personal Thoughts:

It took me five years from when I first dressed as Robin to when I buckled down and full-on made the costume. I really shouldn't let that happen again :)

Styling Notes

The original Zephyr Two-Tail wig had to be cut down a LOT to get the pigtails to not be too huge. However, this left me a LOT of hair to weft in some additional bangs (my first time actually making wefts versus cutting up one wig to weft another) as well as the small locks of hair coming out of the pigtails. I plan to refine it a little more in the near future, but overall I think for how it started it was a great transformation!
