About this Costume
Construction Details:
The base leotard and gloves were store bought because I am terrible at working with four-way stretch fabric. The bows are made from crepe-back satin (I know, bad cosplayer, bad! Trust me, not a mistake I will repeat) and interfacing and attached at their center. The skirt is made from the same fabric in purple, pleated, and attached along the top. The length of the skirt gets increasingly smaller in the front towards the center so that it is the same length when attached in a V shape. The collar is made from the skirt fabric and attached underneath the front bow. The roll is made from two-way stretch cotton blend, stuffed with cotton batting, and attached along the top of the skirt. The "petals" on the sleeves are made from the same fabric and two layers of heavy interfacing. The rolls on the top of the sleeves are made from the same fabric as the dress and collar, lightly stuffed, then two lines were stitches along them to give the appearance of having three parts. The boots are boot covers with the front left open and tied closed with white laces strung through silver grommets. The brooch and the gem on the collar are Christmas ornaments coated in metallic silver paint. The tiara is made by attaching two wired gold ribbons to one another, forming them into a half-circle bent over a wig head, cutting them in the center, flipping one side, re-attaching them that way, stringing hair pins through the ends to attach under the wig, painted them with metallic gold paint with a slightly darker shade around the edges, gluing a clear oval gem to the center, and finally covering the entire thing with clear pearl varnish. The earrings were made with glue painted foam balls with a jewelry wire ring and jewelry wire to attach a fish hook earring and clear gem. Before hanging the gem at the bottom is was covered in metallic silver paint and pearl varnish and the wire the gem hangs on is given a bit of extra security with a bead of hot glue. The Silence Glaive is PVC pipe, sculpty, display paper, craft foam, hot glue, and a rubber furniture leg bottom to give it the stability to double as a cane without slipping. Overall it was nice for a novice-level cosplayer like I was when I made it but I am currently redoing everything.

deep purple (Izzy)
How was the wig colored?
multiple soaks in a combination of 1 purple sharpie, 2 black sharpies, and 16oz. of 91% rubbing alchohol
Styling Notes
Prior to dying I cut it to just barely above shoulder level. After dying I used Aquanet hairspray to get the bangs to stay in her curve-away-from-center style.
