About this Costume
Construction Details:
I LOVE THIS DRESS! I love being myself (ie.bossy) in this. XD This outfit looks simple but it was surprisingly hard. I wanted some contrast in the fabric to translate better in real life. I went with a shinier looking satin-ish fabric for the reds. Seemed appropriate for the red queen. FYI: I don't know my fabrics. I just feel around until I find stuff. lol.

I love lace. I always try to incorporate lace whenever I can sneak it in to look natural & nice hehe. The top I used leftover white and black cheapy fabric I had lying around and added a layer of black lace fabric (only $2/yd! what a steal!). The hardest to find was black and white checkers. The checks were either too small or too big! No in between until I went to Michael Levine's & paid $10/yd. It hurts my soul I never pay that much for fabrics. Thank god I only needed 1.5yds. I went with the minimum I could get away with so I CANNOT AFFORD TO MAKE ANY MISTAKES YO! D8

Insetting the heart to the center of the top was a pain. I still have no idea what I'm doing but I'm glad it's over with and it looks nice. The hardest part was the crown. I wanted to stay true to the picture so I used 12 gauge wire. My hands were so dead from shaping and cutting that thick wire into the right shape. Then Came gluing all the wire pieces together and spraying it all gold (the wire only came in silver :C).
I also created a scepter of my own design to go with the costume. What's a queen without her scepter? The heart was a fillable ornament I sprayed with Testors translucent candy red thank you car modding forums for teaching me about this stuff. It's awesome and sold at Michael's. All the red beads on the edges were painstakingly and lovingly super glued 1 by 1 while watching Criminal Minds lol. OH. The black & white checker on the scepter to match my dress? It's those pretty designer duck tape. XD

Thank you for reading. It was long and I talked your head off. :3
Personal Thoughts:
This cosplay cost me about $52 total for everything. Fabric, all mats for scepter and crown. I already had the wig, shoes and petticoats so I didn't need to buy any of that! :D
