About this Costume
Construction Details:
This was a pretty fun simple project. The dress was made from crepe for the main part and organza for the fabric that drapes around the arms. I used the same pattern I did for my Elsa skirt, Butterick 5325. It's nicely fitted around the waist and hips and flows along the bottom, so I thought it could work nicely for Giselle, also.

The flowers were made from an orchid stem that I harvested the petals from, which were sprayed with floral spray to make them more pink. I glued the petals together in a desired fashion and then attached them to tiny alligator clips, so they can easily attach to my wig.

The nod to Mucha made me want to add a few small details, such as the asymmetrical strap that is seen in the champagne ad Giselle's pink dress is derived from. I'd like to add a little bit more later on, but considering how quickly I put this together I'm pretty happy with it.
Personal Thoughts:
I've always really loved Giselle's pink dress. The reference to one of my favorite illustrators, Alphonse Mucha, made this an irresistible simple project.
