About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
My flower pin was purchased at Hobby Lobby. The wig was a Near wig purchased from Ebay (the quality is actually really great!). I bought a long necklace chain and clasps from Joann Fabrics and wrapped it twice around my neck (I still need to add the charms). I purchased an official bracelet from Ebay. The white tank top, black cami, and black boots were already in my wardrobe. I don't remember what exact fabric I made my jacket out of, but it's some kind of cotton. I lined the entire jacket and used interfacing in the entire jacket as well to make it super sturdy. The pattern I used was Butterick 5888 and I added extra length to it. I drafted my own sash and belt loops on the jacket. I sewed the belt loops down on pieces of the sash so the sash would stay in place. Then I added belt loops. I drafted my own skirt pattern, and made the base skirt out of blue kona cotton and is lined with the same fabric. I made a second layer of the skirt with black kona cotton. I cut out a bunch of different black triangles of varying sizes (they are also lined), sewed them to a black waist band (made out of the same kona cotton), and sewed that layer to the blue skirt. Lastly, my pin was made out of 3 layers of craft foam (1 layer for the back, 1 layer for the portrait, and 1 layer for the circle border). I hot glued those layers together, added mod podge, painted with acrylic paint, and hot glued a safety pin to the back to attach to the jacket.
For Sukoshicon 2014, I updated the costume to make it more accurate since I was competing. I made my own nonary bracelet out of craft foam, wire, hot glue, a keyring, acrylic paint, and resin. I painted and added the charms to my necklace, and added the chains to my hair piece. I also wore my base dress from my Grand Master Courtney cosplay for the black tank top part of the costume. - Personal Thoughts:
- I want to cosplay Phi forever holy shit I'm so proud of how my cosplay turned out.
