About this Costume
Construction Details:
Pretty simple cosplay, but I wanted to make it more detailed so I painted on some extra things...
~

Yukata: Cotton. Basic pattern of a yukata/square layout. Nothing too hard here. Only thing was instead of adding on the collar as a separate piece, it's just wrapped around like bias tape. The front design is painted on with metallic 3D paint because... I'm ghetto like that.

Haori(?): Satin. Basic yukata pattern but instead of the weird triangle front things, I just cut more rectangles. Made the sleeves longer just cause. Then the ribbon HOLY CRAP THE RIBBON IT'S SO HEAVY WHY DID I MAKE IT SO LONG. Basic ribbon pattern with more squares and things. Painted on red vines with fabric paint. Anyway, the ribbon is to be sewn on at the back. Hopefully it will not drag the haori down... UH OH. *edit* don't think it does...?

Mask: WOAH. First time working with paper mache. So weird. Anyway, the basic shape was first a layer of craft foam, ironed to a curved shape. The horns are aluminum foil and masking tape. I then glued the horns on and then paper mached everything together. After that dried, I layered the uncovered craft foam back with glue and water. Finally, a layer of spackling which will be sanded then primed/spray painted white. Details painted with gold pink acrylic and black sharpie.
The second part of the mask is the weird veil part. It is four layers of pink lining (which is thin and nice) on top of one other ascending in size. the top is then ruffle stitched all together. Afterwards, the bottom three were ruffled (right under where the first layer ends). The third layer was ruffled by itself last. After all that, ribbon was sewn in on the last layer of lining. Added hair combs for support later on. Finally, it is all stitched onto a layer of felt and will be glued onto the mask last. Flowers were then glued/stitched onto the edge of the mask and front ribbons.

I think that's all! WOOT. It was a fun project spanning the length of 3-4 days.
Personal Thoughts:
Love when cosplay projects can double as school projects. AWWWWWWWW YEAH.

I tend to find myself getting lazier near the end of the project... HM.
