Cosplayer Lauren Hibs > Costume of Simon from Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- I used a kimono pattern for his coat, and ended up just using a satin cut-out for the gold designs the first time. The boots used the first wear were hastily covered in the same fabric the coat is made of. Used red PVC for the flames and other red details, and red satin ribbon for the stripes. The neck, torso, and arm pieces were made from a black jacket that was disassembled and then stitched the line details in.
The second wearing, I cast several resin dots for the gold details, and used a gold lame for the underparts of the detail. New boots were used and hand-dyed using a dark blue shoe polish base. Open-shirt binding was used the first wear, and then a nude leotard was used the second.
I used coloured sunglasses the first wear, after having an allergic reaction to what I used to mark where to cut for the star shades.
The second time, I used a red coloured gel sheet (used in theatrical lighting) and cut the star shape out, folding it to give it shape, using spirit gum to adhease it to my face.
