Construction Details:

I really wanted to make this coat as much of a real, functional coat as possible. It's made of wool and lined with what I can only describe as the brocade all of my friends have purchased for some reason or another over the years. It had a very opulent and 'Grail' like look so I went all out. It lines the entire coat as well as the front flap, the cuffs, the collar and my hat.
The fur accents are unfortunately not real fur but I managed to snag the chunk I used as a remnant piece at a local fabric store- it was seriously sitting in the middle of a cutting table having been abandoned by the person who originally cut it. It ended up being like $4. DREAMS!
I chose a dark antique brass for the buttons and used clear snaps to close the front panel. The inside has a zipper and a small hook to keep the collar closed.
I made the coat large enough that I can wear my red shirt and skirt combo underneath. The hat is sized up slightly so I can wear it with a wig. There was a good deal of hand sewing in this, mostly for control and for structure. I am a giant nerd tho and totally wear this coat for realz.
