Cosplayer sorairo-days > Costume of Korra from Legend of Korra, The
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Since I recently moved down to DC and lack a car, the majority of this costume consists of altered pieces of clothing which turned out to be quite the challenge! THe shirt was a 3/4 sleeve white turtleneck that I cut up and added the trim by hand, after being dyed with RIT dye to achieve the light blue I wanted.
The pants were also originally white and then dyed to get a darker blue color. I'm still not happy with them color accuracy wise, so they're still a work in progress.
The armbands, wrist bands and the wrap were all sewn by hand from scratch.
I used my natural hair for my first run of her and then styled my Katniss wig for my second run of her for a private photo-shoot :3
- Personal Thoughts:
- I've been a hardcore Avatar: The Last Airbender fan ever since it premiered back in 2005, so when I first heard Legend of Korra was going to get produced I just KNEW I was going to cosplay someone from this series. I initially didn't have enough confidence to cosplay Korra because of her forward personality and overall brute strength. She's a "Grab life by the bars" kind of character and I wasn't sure about myself doing her justice. But after much appreciated motivation from my friends, we formed a somewhat last minute Legend of Korra group for Otakon 2012!
I'm so glad my friends convinced me to cosplay her, because I don't think it would have happened otherwise ;w;
