About this Costume
Construction Details:
I decided to make a Yuya costume to go with August's Kyo. I chose to do sort of a combination of some different arts of her, mostly because I loved the orange version the most. The short kimono is made of a heavier weight cotton sateen, in addition to the obi. The designs are painted with a base of solid white, followed by an iridescent sheer layer and then the green lines. I am wearing an under kimono as well, but that was not made by me. The wig is an Ash blonde one from Epic cosplay wigs. It's incredibly thick and all I needed to do was trim and style the bangs. I am really happy with how it turned out!

Her gun was made with August's help, since I'm pretty much not allowed to use power tools (I'm incredibly accident prone and tend to hurt myself frequently). The handle is made of 3 pieces of wood cut out and glued together. The barrels are made of pvc pipe, and the little details are done with foamies. We make a good team since he's better with the bigger things, while I'm better with the detail work (like 3 hours of hand sanding XD).
Personal Thoughts:
When August mentioned making Kyo from Samurai Deeper Kyo, I hadn't even heard of the series. He has a poster from the series that's been hanging in out sewing room and I always thought it looked cool, so I thought I 'd give it a try. I fell in LOVE with the series! I know it's older, but it's definitely worth a read! I power read it over the series of a few days I was so into it! (*SPOILER* And I really adore Kyo and Yuya's relationship, how it develops, and how much they grow on each other.... it's so cute XD)

Wig Review
Epic cosplay has some of the nicest wigs out there. They are a bit more expensive, but they are definitely worth it! And if you're on a tight timeline like I was, they ship super fast!
