The dress was basically drafted up by myself, with a basic princess-seamed dress used as a base for the bodice. The dress is polar fleece, lined in ice-blue casa lining, to match the coloration of the artwork. The over-dress is entirely lined, while the under skirts are narrow/roll-hemmed. The bottom layer of the skirt is broadcloth, while the upper layer is crepon sheer, which has a fabulous shimmer suitable for an icicle theme! Each skirt layer was dip-dyed in a mix of royal blue and turquoise dyes, to get the color juuuuust right (so it would match the blue in the artwork).
There are approximately 500 rhinestones glued on the skirts - half clear, half light blue, to match the downward gradient. I made all of the icicles on the costume (about 75 in total) out of clear polyester resin. I first made some original icicle shapes out of Sculpey, then made molds off of those. Then, I poured the resin mixture into the molds, and LOL MASS-PRODUCED ICICLES! The same method was used to make the larger snow-flake shapes.
All of the other pieces (cuffs, collar, ankle cuffs, garter) are faux-fur with snap closures. And, the ears have a craftfoam understructure, with faux-fur overtop of that, and part of a mirabou boa cut up and placed inside. They're attached to a headband. :3
