About this Costume
Construction Details:
When I sewed Snow White I wanted to make her in the classic cell animation movie colors. I don't really care for the bright, bold colors that Disney uses today in a lot of their Disney Princess art. I love the look of the older movies & the toned down classic feel of them. So I bought creamy yellows & dark navy blues. Snow White is a one piece dress sewn mostly from the dull side of casa satin. The red drops on her sleeves are applied with Heat N' Bond & then satin stitched on as appliques. The collar is interfacing & white bridal satin & is detachable from the dress by snaps so the dress can easily be gotten into. The underskirt is a vintage crinoline underskirt borrowed from a friend & the yellow slippers are from DSW. You have no idea how happy & excited I was to find Snow White shoes at DSW, even if they are a little bright for the classic movie colors.
Personal Thoughts:
I don't really care for Snow White as a character. I think that she's probably the most useless Disney Princess there is & is fairly devoid of a personality. That being said, I made her because my friends were doing a Disney group for Dragoncon's Aquarium night & kept telling me how I could pull her off with my big brown eyes & round face. I did have a lot of fun running around as a Disney Princess though, taking photos with children & staying in character. I even got an apple from the cafeteria there & carried it around for laughs.
