Construction Details:

I created this myself using craft foam for the shoulder harness and belt, a dog leash for the red straps around the leg, a really crappy wig, and covering sneakers with canvas. Blue gardening gloves were used for the gloves and I modified a toy laser pistol into Gene's caster gun. The star on my left shoulder and the scars were put on using Crayola markers.

I had a lot of fun wearing this at the time. I'm not sure where my modesty had gone to.

Personal Thoughts:

I caught a few episodes of Outlaw Star on Cartoon Network and really liked Gene's character. I went out and bought the DVDs and became a fan of the show. ...and being tall and kinda skinny like Gene, I I decided to risk the spandex and cosplay him. Unfortunately, I never had time to finish his overcoat. Maybe someday... The caster gun was nice because it actually lit up! Unfortunately, one light broke halfway through AX and the other broke halfway through Otakon. Oh well. I really liked wearing this because it's a highly recognizable character. It was definitely the most recognizable one I had ever worn to a large con...and that got me in a ton of photos. I had a great time whenever I put this on...and any reservations I had about wearing spandex disappeared (almost).

Styling Notes

Wig was a long devil wig that was cut very short.
