About this Costume
Construction Details:
I had an old pile of stuff laying around. My friend Ken said I needed to become a fairy. I looked around and saw that I could use this to my advantage. First I started with the wig: I cut up a super old wig I had from walmart ages ago. Cut it, added dark blue and purple wefts. And added a beaded tiara with a flower embellishment. Second I used a two toned fabric that was yellow and orange. I created a nice small dress pattern and used the remanents and scraps to create a fringed edge. I added tons of heavy beading all over the dress so that it would pop and sparkle on stage. I used old yellow fabric, wire, and posterboard for the wings. I found some yellow star trim and added that to the edges. I used the same beads from the tiara to the wings for extra embellishing as well as some more trim. I used my Alice bloomers and then I created a small underlay skirt with yellow trim and gold beads. I created the wand out of an old paintbrush. I found all the beads needed, extra flowers, wire and sequins to dazzle it up.
Personal Thoughts:
I first thought of this outfit as the fairy of light. I wanted this costume to be versitile and comfortable. I wanted to be able to use this costume many times just in case. I love the heavy beading. It called for it. I haven't had a fun project like this in a while so I'm very happy that I got to do something like this. .... I WAS BAREFOOT ON STAGE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
