Construction Details:

Suit is made with a supposedly "wrinkle-free" twill, and was the bane of my existence for a good two weeks or so. Overcoat is made from a heavier-weighted twill with broadcloth lining, and the tabs were made with gold middy braid, scraps of blue fabric, and embroidered fleur de lis I ganked from a drapery fabric swatch. The VDV patch on the arm of the overcoat was one I managed to find through sheer luck. XD

The wig is actually two wigs! :D A mid-length blonde wig with another, much longer wig sewn into it for the ponytail.

The scar makeup is crap; I'm so out of practice. D:

Personal Thoughts:

I've wanted to cosplay Balalaika since the first time I watched Black Lagoon back in 2008, but I repeatedly dropped the costume because of time restraints/budget issues/lack of skill. Then, after AWA 2009, I was finally like "LET'S DO THIIIIIS." It's still unfinished; I want to readjust the sleeves on the suit jacket, add some more shaping to the front, and actually line the sleeves of the overcoat so that they don't look like crap. But oh, do I ever have fun in this costume. :D
