This costume was pretty simple to put together, except for the wig (which took 10 hours).

Thanks to Little Kuriboh. Without him, I would have never gotten interested in Yuugiou!

Styling Notes

At the time of starting this wig I really wanted to take the 2D five-spikes-no-matter-which-angle-we-see-Yuugi-from style and make it 3-dimensional somehow. Started out as a regular Punky wig; I pinned it to a wighead and cut off all the back hair. I spent hours literally just hairspraying the spikes to make them stand up so the wig would appear to have five spikes from the front, 3/4th, and side view. Afterwards I added in black wefts and a little bit of black hairspray to give the wig the black-to-red appearance it has. The blond wefts are glued to the underside of the lace cap, then glued to the front spikes to make them stay upright; using a curling iron gave the bangs that hung straight down their crazy kink. Highlight: on the plane to Sakura-con, I got asked several times if I did wig styling for David Bowie!
